Looks like none of the materials that use the physbeam texture have this proxy so it's never animated (not even the original Half-Life 2 material). I didn't find this when searching the Valve wiki originally.

If you want the animated variant, use the trails/physbeam material instead.Įdit: Actually, it turns out there is a material-level setting needed to get animations to play (specifically, it needs the 'AnimatedTexture' proxy).

If you ask for sprites/physbeam, it's resolving the material, not the texture, hence why it's static. And you are done.Looks like GMod overrides the material for sprites/physbeam to use a static texture, whereas the Half-Life 2 texture is indeed animated. Go under the prop_dynamic’s properties and change the “World Model:” to “models/blackout.mdl” It should be the only model in the root folder of your model browser. It should be exactly halfway under the ground as well.Ĥ. If you do not know what this means, just place the prop_dynamic on the floor so it is in the exact middle of the player.
